THE COLDHAM HALL CHRONICLE

NEWS & VIEWS FROM COLDHAM HALL SAILING CLUB

Christmas Pudding Race sailors in club house 2011

January 2012

The last race of the season was the Christmas Pudding Race which was won by Sandy Watt in Speedwell.
It was a cold day and sunny for a start, but snow then blew in part way through!
The event was well supported with several Yeomans and Wayfarers out on the water.
Afterwards, the sausage rolls (kindly made by Elaine Watson early that morning)
and mince pies and drinks in the clubhouse were very welcome.
The winter down river race series was won by John Wells.

Our AGM was held on 7th December. Officers and committee members of the club for the next year are;

Officers

Derek Watson - Commodore

Kevin Priest - Vice Commodore

Mark Foreman - Rear Commodore

Honorary Secretary - Alan Sant

Honorary Treasurer - David Woolston

Gary Corbet - Race Officer

Sabina Priest - Social Secretary

Paul Parker - Bosun

Committee Members

Ian Barker

Tony Duddle

Kim Mayfield

Gill Mott

Judith Robertson

Ian Shepherd

Apart from the official business, there was a discussion regards the future of the club,
links with the RYA and how best to attract and keep new members to the club.
The new committee has since met in January discussing the club development plan to
be devised along with a novice sailors' programme

Midweek sailing continues into January with a hardy few enjoying a sail
in the 2 boats remaining at the moorings and lunching if a riverside pub is open.
On one of these outings in the autumn, John's yeoman was photographed by a microlight pilot
and subsequently pictures of the club were also taken from the air. There are more pictures on the website.

The 2012 sailing programme starts 22nd April, after the Rigging out Supper 21st April
(the same format as last year with participants bringing food to share). The full
sailing and events programme can be found on the website: www.coldhamhallsailingclub.co.uk.
Thursday evenings in June involves sailing for new prospective members and it is hoped that club sailing events
in the summer will complement the RYA 'Sail for gold' which will coincides with the Olympics.

Club members will have been sent the invitation to the Quiz and Chips on 17th February.
There should be a talk and chips night in March and rules evening near the beginning of the season
