THE COLDHAM CHRONICLE
FEBRUARY 2008
Warm greetings to all ,
Hope you have all had a good winter and that a grand fleet of boats are now ready and waiting to take to the water in April.
Following the February committee meeting we are hoping for plenty of volunteers to help with the work parties as several maintenance jobs have been identified.
Work parties will be held on Sat March 29 th and on Sat Apri5th
There are lots of jobs to be done skilled and unskilled so all will be welcome and find plenty to do. If you don't feel you don't have much physical strength, tea and coffee makers will be in high demand too. The work parties are a great chance to get to know people and have some fun together. Wheel barrows , shovels, loppers, hard rakes and cleaning gear would be especially useful.
If you are looking for Boat insurance please consider Heath Lambert (who are RYC recommended.) They offer a commission to the club for any yacht insurance taken out by members so don't forget to mention which club you belong to.
Their quotes have apparently been fairly competitive.
Our social calendar got off to a great start with the quiz night . A great effort, by all those who braved the elements and turned out, resulted in the return of the quiz trophy to CHSC. Thanks go to the Frostbites S.C. for their very warm hospitality.
The next social event will be the Fish and Chip Supper to be held on Sat 15 th March and then the Rigging out Supper which will on Saturday 26 th of April. Please make sure you fill in your booking forms and send them in plenty of time, numbers are not limited so please don't miss out.
We have several new members so please look out for them and make them feel welcome.
The sailing season will start on the 27 th of April with some quick practice for one Sunday before the CHSC Open Regatta on the 4 th and 5 th of May.
Plans are under way for the 2008 Sailing Appreciation Course this will run on Thursday evenings from Thurs 5 th of June through until Thurs 3 rd of July. If you know any one who would like to participate. The course fees cover a trial membership for the year as well as the course, they can join at any time now and this will also entitle them to participate in the social events. If you are willing to help by taking people out in boats etc please let Matt Ellis know, he will be pleased to hear from you.
Not long now and spring will be fully underway, we can leave our winter hibernation and take to the water. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
