THE COLDHAM CHRONICLE

JUNE 2008

Greetings All,

The club regatta was fairly well attended, lovely day, great winds and thanks ladies for the delicious cakes. It was a bit disappointing in the lack of participation by the cruiser class. Moorings are allocated with priority for active club members at very reasonable cost so it would be great to see more getting involved in club events, regattas, sailing appreciation etc.

The Sailing Appreciation Course has started with a good number of participants on the first two weeks. . The course runs from 1830 to 2030 hrs every Thursday evening until the first week of July with social sailing on a Thursday nights continuing through the summer.

There have been a few mumbles about rule keeping during races!

We would like to encourage club members intending to race to fully familiarise themselves with the rules,(see RYA web site) Even if you think you are way behind you must give way when indicated, do penalty turns when indicated, etc, who knows, a small whirlwind may carry you off to the finish line unexpectedly!! ( B17 still hoping!)

The Club Wayfarers are all ready for use by members who have been deemed competent, our organiser David Hickman will again be taking the bookings this year, contact him on 07860-191111 (mobile). At only £10.00 for a full day it is tremendous value.

Just a reminder, if you have access to the Internet, you can receive your issues of the Chronicle by e-mail more quickly. It is much easier and cheaper for the club, so please email me with your address if we do not have it and you are able to receive your chronicle this way.

A couple of thank you ‘s. Thank you Morris for your talk on knots at the rigging out supper and thanks to all those who helped out on work parties. Thanks too to Tom and Jan Hubbard who have kindly offered to host the club Barbecue which will be held on Saturday July 12 th 6.30-10pm

To get to Jan and Toms house turn off the A47 onto the B1108 Watton road and the take the first road on the right - Stocks Hill, their house “Hillside” is on left just before the bridge on the corner of Church Street alternatively turn off A47 at Costessy Left to park and ride, on through Bawburgh and it is just over the bridge on the right. Their house will be marked by a flag. Jan suggests parking is best on the Bawburgh side of the bridge along the green. Please do not try to park in the drive unless you have trouble walking.
