THE COLDHAM CHRONICLE

OCTOBER 2008

Dear all,

It's that time of year again! AGM, Presentation Dinner where did the year go?

We have the sad task of reporting that Peter Page died on the 25 th of September Peter was a member of the club for many years and was, it was affectionately recalled at this months committee meeting, responsible for the introduction of the use of kill cords on the safety boat. He and Vic apparently had a scary moment on the safety boat when the helm was trying to steer the boat blind, having fallen on the floor of the boat and knocked the engine into reverse! Our thoughts go to his family Christopher, Tim and Liz at this time and several members of the club hope to attend his memorial service at Colney Wood on Saturday.

Our congratulations to Matt and John Ellis who sailed for the club in the Ramuz cup race and took second place. Thank you both for doing us proud!

The YNR race was sadly affected by the lack of wind that has so often been the case for racing recently. Our thanks to all those that turned out, helped and participated. It was still a good day.

We need to find a new Rear Commodore for next year. If anyone has any nomination they would like to make please talk to a committee member.

Two fun events coming up- Commodores day on October 26 th with a Halloween theme and the Christmas pudding race on December the 14 th

Early in February we will be hosting and defending our title in the Fish and Chip Quiz Night against the Frostbites, this year at Coldham Hall Tavern, so look out for the January Chronicle for details and make sure you are there, we need some good teams.

The committee has also asked me to remind you to make sure your boats are pegged down and secure now that we are moving into the winter months. Could all trophies received last year please be returned to Gary ready for presentation this year. There are also plans for there to be a smaller set of sails suitable for use on club wayfarers on windier days.
