CHSC QUALIFICATION RULES FOR TROPHIES 2012
The racing year is in two halves. There will be 8 local race days and 4 downriver races in the first half . The second half season will consist of an equal number of races and will follow the Regatta.
Local Races
There will be 3 series sailed for each day of the local races i.e. Races 1,2 and 3
A trophy is awarded for the best score in each series for the overall season.
Separate trophies are also awarded for the best score in each series for the first and seond half seasons. The winner of the overall season trophy in each series is not eligible to qualify for a half season trophy for that particular series.
Half the races sailed (plus 1), for each of the series of races, must be completed by each competitor, to qualify for a trophy. This applies to full and half season trophies. In the event that no competitor has achieved this minimum number of completed races, the race officer has discretion to reduce the qualifying minimum in order to award a trophy.
Competitors, who exceed the minimum number of completed races, will have the highest of their scores discarded.
Scoring is based on 3/4 point for 1st place,2 points for second, 3 for third etc. The best score will be the lowest number of points awarded for completing the minimum qualifying races. Half of the races sailed (plus 1) minimum to qualify.
Downriver races
A trophy is awarded for the best score in the Downriver races in the whole season.
Scoring will be as shown above
A trophy is awarded for each of the picnic races. Scores in the picnic races also count toward the Downriver races.
There are also individual class trophies for the Norfolk Dinghies, Wayfarer Dinghies and the Yeoman Half Decker's, for best scores in the whole season, as above.
Race Officers Trophy
The Race Officers Trophy is awarded to a competitor who has sailed the minimum amount of races plus one; has not been awarded a trophy for that season and has displayed a high ranking and achievement.
Cruiser classes
There is a trophy for the best score over the full season, with points awarded as above.
There is also a trophy awarded for each of the picnic races.
The Yare Challenge Cup is also raced as an annual club competition against the Yare Sailing Club. |
